Pesco accused of corruption, mismanagement

CHITRAL: The people of Chitral have complained about corruption and mismanagement in the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco).

They aired their grievances at a khuli katchery (open forum) held here on Friday organised by Chitral Deputy Commissioner Irshad Sodhar.

The people complained that the company only knew how to send bills to consumers and extort money while it had miserably failed to provide electricity to them.

They complained that the consumers were made to repair the faulty transformers on their own.

They also complained about shortage of doctors in hospitals and presence of spurious drugs in the local medicine market. They said public fare on Chitral-Dir road was still high despite the fact that duration of the travel had been reduced by two hours.

On the occasion, Mr Sodhar said no leniency would be shown to the officers who failed to streamline performance of their respective departments.
